*Nearly done. That feel.(以誠, 2013)

Murakami?

"The lyrics were derived from a short story found in Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles. The story revolves around a vet whom witnessed the slaughtering of zoo animals during WWII."

Lyrics:

It was just a normal day for him
Tending to lions
The zoo director came for them
With a pride of his own, and an army lieutenant

The lieutenant was a baseball man
In an earlier life
But oh God have times changed since then
He demanded a list, for orders are orders

Impromptu liquidation
A quick clean goodbye
Cartridge after cartridge
Did the horses and lions count down to the last of their breaths?

They shot 'em down
They shot 'em down
And the animals cried
And the animals cried

And the tigers wept
For the wolves and the bears
And the cicada cried
Except for the wind-up bird that goes creak creak creak

And to this day
I swear the only one who died that night was me
And the wind-up bird, up in its tree perched
